Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim has revealed rumoured Liverpool target Matheus Nunes rejected proposals in order to stay at the Portuguese club.
The Reds are one of a number of clubs to be linked with the 23-year-old this summer, as well as the likes of Premier League rivals Wolves and Chelsea. Nunes joined Sporting's academy in 2019 and has gone on to make just shy of 100 first-team appearances so far.
He only signed a fresh contract last October and his current deal runs until 2026, meaning Sporting will be in no rush to part ways with the midfielder. Despite various reports throughout the summer, Nunes looks set to stay put for the upcoming campaign.

Amorim is quoted in Portuguese outlet Record : "For me the reality is different, it's keeping my players. I'm happy that Matheus Nunes is still here. I'm happy that Sporting's players, as Matheus Nunes, reject offers that would change their lives to stay at Sporting.
"This is my reality, I am very happy with my squad and my players are the best in the world."
Liverpool have already invested heavily in the squad this summer with the additions of Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, as well as a potential record-breaking deal for Darwin Nunez. It has been suggested the Reds will wait until next summer before they invest in the midfield.
