Spookfest bringing funfair, scary movies and circus to The Trafford Centre this Halloween

A spooky circus and fairground is returning to The Trafford Centre this Halloween and will be open across October half term.

Spookfest arrived for the first time last year and is back with even more entertainment for families.

The funfair, which was last in action as part of the mall's Summer Daze event, will be back with everything from the ghost train and haunted house, to the popular Rock Rage and cruise ship rides.

New this year is the Mach 5, an 'adrenaline-pumping ride that spins speedily at soaring heights of 55m above the ground' .Gandeys Circus is also back with 'a brand-new action-packed legendary' Halloween Spooktacular Big Top show.

A specially selected international cast of skeletons, vampires, jack o’lanterns and not forgetting Circus Artistes, have been brought together for what promises to be a 'sensational extravaganza'. A Pumpkin Tower installation will certainly make a photo opportunity for big and little kids.

The 'first ever in the north west', it will boast 250 pumpkins and reach a towering five metres in height - that’s higher than a single decker bus and almost the height of a giraffe.

On selected dates there will be Halloween Movie Screenings, free to those with a fairground wristband. These take place at 2pm on Saturdays and include Toy Story of Terror on October 15, The Nightmare Before Christmas on October 22 and Coco on October 29.

Spooky characters will also be making an appearance (2pm to 4pm) on the weekend of October 15 and 16 and then daily from October 22 to 30. These will differ on each day and include the likes of Maleficent, Aurora, Jack Skellington, Batman and Scooby Doo.

There'll be face painting on those dates too, between 1.30pm and 5.30pm, and of course there'll be lots of sweet treats in store, including orange candyfloss, spooky lollies, black toffee apples and pumpkin-spiced lattes.

The event runs from October 14 to 30 and tickets can be bought online or from the kiosk on the day of your visit. Rides are on a token basis, with most needing two to three per ride. You can save by ordering online - entry £2.50, ride tokens 25 for £20, plus booking fees.
