'Split' - Nottingham Forest sent message after Serge Aurier transfer

Nottingham Forest supporters are conflicted over the signing of Serge Aurier on a free transfer.

The former Tottenham Hotspur defender looks set to add competition on the right-hand side of defence, with Neco Williams the Reds' current incumbent in that area so far this season. Whether Aurier will be available on Monday remains to be seen, with Forest stressing the signing remains subject to Visa approval.

Some supporters aren't so sure about the Ivory Coast international but others have welcomed the strength in depth it will add. Here is a selection of the social media reaction to Aurier being announced.

Max Scott: Now Aurier has been announced, can we just get one more in so it’s one player per year we were absent from the Prem?

Carl Wilkinson: The funny thing is some fans are writing this guy off already but I've seen him have better games in the Prem then Williams has had so far.

Dave Holmes: Bit split on Aurier, it’s a free transfer, it’s a one-year deal but would still seem to be an expensive option for a backup. Williams hasn’t been at his best the last couple of games but there are not many who have, if it drives him to be better and adds cover then fair enough.

Demi-Lynne: Got a really good feeling about our new signing.

Kieran Gaughan: Wasn’t keen on us signing Aurier last week, purely because I didn’t think he’d be needed or better than what we had… After Saturday watching that performance at RWB, it’s clear we need competition or at least someone who will run at players and can cross a decent ball there.
