Famed filmmaker Spike Lee was recently inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's superfans gallery for his unwavering support of the New York Knicks. Lee, known for his courtside presence at Knicks games, expressed surprise at the honor, having not been aware of the existence of this recognition until receiving a phone call about it.

During the induction ceremony, Lee joined other notable superfans like Jack Nicholson and Billy Crystal. Crystal, a Clippers fan, humorously pointed out that he too had a presence in the Hall of Fame for his film '61(asterisk).' Lee, dressed in Knicks colors, enjoyed interacting with basketball legends like Larry Bird and Artis Gilmore, even playfully engaging in a fake argument with referee Dick Bavetta.

Michael Jordan's Warm Embrace

Basketball icon Michael Jordan shared a heartfelt moment with former player Vince Carter at the Hall of Fame event. Carter, who drew early career comparisons to Jordan, introduced his family to the legendary player. Jordan also warmly greeted his former coach Doug Collins, recalling a touching gesture from their time together.

Doug Collins' Induction Speech

Collins, inducted as a contributor, delivered a speech filled with anecdotes from his playing and coaching career. He emphasized the importance of storytelling in broadcasting, a lesson he learned from Dick Ebersol. Despite running over his allotted time, Collins continued sharing his experiences, reminiscent of Jim Valvano's refusal to be rushed off stage during his ESPY's speech.
