With the sun hopefully set to make a reappearance across Northern Ireland this weekend, many of us will be dusting down the BBQ and our old favourite recipes to enjoy an al fresco dinner.
And we've found one that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser whether you're firing up the BBQ for the family or entertaining friends, spicy chicken wings. Former Belfast chef turned Instagram blogger Darragh Mackin aka Belfast Undercover Chef has created this 'finger lickin' good' recipe that will definitely leave you reaching for more.
Best of all it's simple, and easy and they can be done using many store cupboard ingredients and then thrown on the BBQ for all to enjoy.
Here's what you'll need:
1kg chicken wings
1½ tsp salt
1½ tsp black pepper
For the sauce
60g butter
1 clove garlic, minced
100ml Frank's Red Hot Original
½ tsp salt
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp chilli powder
¾ tsp sugar
Method
- Heat the bbq to medium-high. Season the wings with salt and pepper.
- Grill the wings, covered, turning occasionally until they are golden brown, crispy, and completely cooked through, about 20 minutes. Keep a close eye on the BBQ: if there are flare-ups or the wings begin to burn, move the wings to a cooler part of the BBQ or reduce the heat.
- Just before the wings are cooked, make the sauce. Combine the butter and garlic in a skillet and place on the BBQ. Cook for about one until the butter is melted. Stir in the hot sauce, salt, onion powder, chili powder and sugar.
- Dip the cooked wings in the sauce and serve immediately.
