Spice Girls star Mel B praised for queue jumping dig on Good Morning Britain

Spice Girls singer Mel B made a subtle dig at "queue jumpers" Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield when she appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old star from Leeds appeared on the breakfast show to discuss what an honour it was to get a letter from Her Majesty The Queen after receiving an MBE for her work with Women's Aid. Mel also used this as an opportunity to ask Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid about queueing to see the Queen lying-in-state at Westminster Hall.

It comes after colleagues Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who present This Morning, were accused of "queue jumping" despite the ITV reassuring the public that the duo was there for work. Viewers noticed during today's Good Morning Britain that Susanna and co-star Ben Shephard were careful not to mention the topic until Mel B came onto the show.

At the end of their chat, Mel said: "Before I forget, Susanna, you queued for seven hours? My gosh, I have so much respect for you. I mean, I did anyway but even more so now. What was that like?"

To which Susanna replied: "So kind of you to ask, thank you. We've been talking about it. It felt like a pilgrimage, actually, I'm not religious but it did feel like a pilgrimage. It was an honour to be with all the other people in the queue as well."

Mel B then cheekily said: "No queue jumping for you!" Susanna laughed and replied: "Well, you know, some people had to work of course. I was there with my mum, who wanted to be there, and her friend. It was lovely."

Viewers have praised the singer for her "iconic behaviour" and found it amusing that the topic was brought up so close to the end of the show. Stef Nelson wrote on Twitter: "Ben and Susanna thought they were safe and got away without queue-jump coming up with only 60 seconds left on the show.. Mel B 'Hold my beer'."

Lorna praised: "Yes, go on Mel B! Iconic behaviour when talking about the queue on #gmb just now!!!" Stephanie wrote: "Go on Mel, getting in the queue jumping dig there."

Missrubble commented: "Respect for @OfficialMelB for trying to get the queue jumping topic out in the open. You can always trust a 'Northerner' to say what they mean."

And Michelle tweeted: "Can't beat a Yorkshire lass speaking her mind."
