Spice Girls and Victoria Beckham 'seriously pondering' reuniting at King Charles' Coronation in May

The Spice Girls could soon reunite to perform at King Charles III's official coronation in May, according to a source.

The formal three-day event, set to take place between May 6 and 8, is an important occasion which will see Charles officially inducted to his new royal role as King, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II last year.

And it is said that royal organisers are trying to secure the legendary 90s pop group for the event itself.

The Daily Record reports that if confirmed, it will be the first time in over 10 years since members, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Mel Chisholm, Gerry Halliwell and Emma Bunton take stage as a full group - last joining forces to sing at the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony in London.

An insider told the Scottish Sun: “Royal organisers are super keen to secure Britain’s biggest girl band and the Spice Girls are seriously pondering a return to the stage as a five piece for such a historical event. Certainly the reality is that the Coronation is as special as The Olympics - a one off celebration and unique performance.

"There is a general sense that a reunion could happen for something this significant."

The band has met the royal family on multiple occasions throughout the years and the group was initially due to perform at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee ceremony but had to pull out. Speaking last week on American talk show The View, Mel B revealed that there were talks for the band to come together once again.

When asked about the possibility of a reunion, she said: "Oh there is. I'm always saying it's gonna happen', but because Covid happened, everything kind of got put on the backfoot.

"So all five of us are speaking, we're gonna announce something really soon, but I can't say anything right now."

In 2022, Mel C expressed regret after the group had to pull out of performing at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Speaking to the Express, she explained that it would have been 'impossible' to pull off.

She said: “You know what, we would have loved to be there but it was just one of those situations where it was impossible. With us girls, there is so much that we would like to do but there are four, five, people involved with families and other commitments and responsibilities.

"So, I think that was something that we had to miss."
