Spice Girls singer Mel B has revealed details of how her boyfriend popped the question earlier this month.
The Leeds star has been dating Rory McPhee for three years and reportedly "burst into tears" when he asked her to marry him during a romantic getaway at the luxury country hotel Cliveden House in Berkshire. Hairdresser Rory, who is from Leeds, is said to have presented her with a £100,000 pear-shaped, diamond ring, according to friends close to the couple.
An over-the-moon Mel immediately said "yes" and during tonight's episode of Gogglebox, she told her friend Ruby Wax about Rory's beautiful proposal speech. Ruby asked: "You told me you got engaged the other day, and so my question is, what did he actually say?"

Mel responded: "I love you, you're my best friend, I want to spend the rest of my life with you." She added: "There were roses everywhere, a log fire, hotel..."
Friends of the couple have described Rory as a “normal, down-to-earth-guy”, saying that he was perfect for Mel as he wasn’t “flash” or “interested in the limelight.”
A source told the Sun: “Mel is so happy and this is such a big deal for her because she has been though such a lot. It has taken a huge amount for a man to get her to trust him and to believe in love again.
"Rory is from her home town Leeds, he’s known her for years. He’s the absolute opposite of so many of the guys she had relationships with.”
Mel B's eldest daughter Phoenix, 23, was the first person the be told the happy news. Mel was awarded an MBE earlier this year for her work as Patron of domestic violence charity Women’s Aid.
In her 2018 memoir Brutally Honest, she wrote that she had suffered a decade of domestic abuse while married to the US film producer Stephen Belafonte, claims which he has denied.
They divorced in August 2018.
