The SPFL is set for a post-split headache as they attempt to give teams the same amount of home and away fixtures.
At present Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Aberdeen, Hibernian and Livingston make up the top six heading into the last four games before the Scottish Premiership splits in two. By the time of the last round of fixtures on the weekend beginning April 22 the current champions will have played each team that occupies the top six twice at home and once away. Across the city Michael Beale's side will have travelled away twice to each team and hosted them once.
In a 38-game season all sides are meant to have 19 games at home and 19 away, however with the introduction of the split it has been difficult for the SPFL to have that every season. Ange Postecoglou's Celtic would be due to have five games away post split, however the SPFL is expected to mix the fixtures up in order to give the Hoops fans a couple of homes games at least. For Rangers they are due to play five home games but they will now be forced to travel to Edinburgh, West Lothian or the Granite City as it stands.
It's expected league officials will keep with the plan to have the last Celtic v Rangers game at Ibrox which could be in early May.
According to SPFL: "All clubs will play a minimum of two and a maximum of three home fixtures after the split. We try to ensure that all clubs finish the season with a home fixture in round 37 or 38 - they would typically be away from home on the other matchday."
The post-split fixtures are expected to be announced in the week beginning April 24.
