SPFL club confirm ex-Rangers kid injured in road accident

Former Rangers youngster Ben Williamson has been involved in a car accident, his current club has confirmed.

Williamson, 23, plays for Hamilton Accies in the Scottish Championship.

This morning, Accies revealed that the midfielder had suffered injuries following the incident.

A club statement reads: "We are immensely saddened by the news of the injuries sustained by our player Ben Williamson in a road traffic accident.

"At this time, we cannot comment on the circumstances of the accident, but we shall support Ben appropriately and he has our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

"Our thoughts are very much with him at this difficult time."

Williamson came through Rangers' academy, featuring for their B team and Under-19s side in the UEFA Youth League.

He never made a first-team appearance for the club, but had loan spells at Dundee and Raith Rovers among others.
