Vogue Williams revealed her husband is not impressed she has landed a new Channel 4 gig leaving him “with two kids at home”.
Former Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews said he feels his wife “puts her career first sometimes” while complaining about missing out on Sunday morning lie-ins because of her early morning radio show.
Dubliner Vogue, 34, who hosts a show on Heart FM every Sunday, recently landed a new TV gig on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch.
However, lifting the lid on how the news went down at home, the London-based mum of Theo, two, and newborn Gigi revealed her reality star husband was less than pleased to hear the show films in Leeds.
Speaking on their podcast, Spencer and Vogue on Global Player, she added: “I got a new job this week which I’m very pleased about. I’m joining the Steph Show and it films up in Leeds.
“I’ve never seen someone’s face drop so hard when I told him that I was going to be spending some time in Leeds.”
Defending himself, Spencer, 32, said: “I want your career to go from strength to strength.
“You put your career first sometimes which is absolutely fine as do I, a lot of the time. But you wouldn’t be deterred from a job if it was spending five days in Leeds and we’ve got two kids at home.”
But Vogue feels her husband always gets nervous when she starts working on a new show.
She said: “That is absolutely not true. You did the same with Heart.
“Spenny gets nervous when I get asked to cover other people’s shows in Heart, he gets nervous that I’m going to start going in more and more and it just won’t suit him.”
Hitting out at how Vogue’s early Sunday radio slot disrupts his sleep in, he said: “I did the same with Heart and what happened?
“You landed a job every single Sunday morning which involves you leaving the house at 4.15am which completely disrupts our Saturday sleep on the one day we could spend the morning in bed.
“You are out of the house and I’m left with the kids, which fine, love the kids, no problem.
“And then it gets to the point where you’re like, ‘Great we’ve been working so hard, let’s go away for the weekend’. Ah, can’t. Vogue’s radio show.
“And now she’s talking about spending some time in Leeds every week.”
Vogue defended her weekly gig saying: “I’m back in this house by 9.20 in the morning so you’re not left with the kids, struggling all day. You’re only here until 9.20am.”
