The split season was designed to give the club player and club games their rightful place in the GAA calendar.

The club Championships are at their peak right now with hundreds of games all over the island in recent weekends with various highlights - and a few lowlights.

Slaughtneil have been the standard bearers in Derry for some time now but lost their grip on the senior Championship crown last year as Malachy O'Rourke's Glen broke through to claim the county title.
The south Derry dual club are keen to reclaim their place at the top and a moment of magic at the weekend helped them swat aside the challenge of Claudy with a 3-19 to 0-3 win.
Dual player Jerome McGuigan raced onto the ball around the halfway mark and took a couple of great soccer-style touches to get away from the covering defenders.
Rather than get the ball into his hands, McGuigan ignored everything his coaches will have told him over the years and ran on, controlling the ball along the ground and he forced Claudy goalkeeper Ryan Mercer to race off his line to confront the threat.
McGuigan saved the best touch for last with his cultured left boot and lobbed the stranded goalkeeper to gasps of amazement and some howls of laughter from the crowd. At the time of publication, the video was fast closing in on 50,000 views on Twitter alone.
The 2014, 2016 and 2017 Ulster club champions march on now to face Swatragh in the Derry SFC quarter-finals and on this evidence, McGuigan and Co will take some stopping.
