A spectacular drone light show to celebrate Chanukah is heading for Heaton Park. According to its organisers, it will be the first drone show of its kind in the north west, with the drones in the air making up the shape of a huge Menorah in the air over North Manchester.
The celebration of the Jewish festival of lights will happen tomorrow night (December 20, the third night of Chanukah) from 3.30pm close to the St Margaret's Road entrance to the park, running until 4.30pm. Rabbi Cohen of community group L'chaim Chabad Lubavitch, which is behind the celebration, said: “The Menorah serves as a symbol of the UK's dedication to preserve and encourage the right and liberty of all its citizens to worship God freely, openly, and with pride.

“Specifically in this country, a nation that vigorously protects the right of every person free from restraint and persecution, the Menorah takes on profound significance, embodying both religious and human rights principles.”
As well as the light show, performed by specialist drone company Flightshows.com, there will be all sorts of other attractions too. Chanukah donuts will be on sale, as well as live music, a range of Chanukah gifts, Menorah kits and dreidels, the Jewish spinning top game synonymous with Chanukah.
The event is one of 10,000 public Menorahs worldwide, celebrating the Jewish faith’s annual message of freedom and light.
