Specsavers has announced that it's recalling a brand of contact lens solution over fears it isn't adequately disinfected.
A message was posted on the high street opticians' website and emails sent to its customers yesterday (Thursday , February 24) advising them of a " voluntary recall by manufacturer CooperVision of its easyvision easypurpose contact lens solution."
A spokesperson said, "CooperVision’s quality testing determined that the product may not offer appropriate levels of disinfection in some circumstances against high levels of a particular yeast organism.

"Although no complaints have been received and there have been no confirmed incidents attributed to inadequate disinfection, this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution."
The statement added that customers would be sent an alternative multipurpose solution which had been recommended by Specsavers' clinical team.
It also advised them to stop using their easypurpose solution once an alternative solution had been received.
"Hold on to any open and unused bottles so you can get a refund," it continued.
"To make this it as easy as possible, CooperVision is setting up a refund website that you’ll be able to access via our website. This is the best way for you to get a refund from home.
"There will also be a dedicated support number for you to call.
Apologising for any inconvenience caused, it added that the refund page would be going live on Monday (February 28) and that anyone experiencing issues can email customerproductcare@specsavers.com or contact their nearest store or call 0345 241 3366.
