Specialists cut DPD lorry free from tree after it got stuck on branch

Specialists had to cut a DPD lorry free from a tree after getting stuck on a branch in Heywood. Police were called to the scene on Heywood Old Road on Thursday (January 12) after the large vehicle had become wedged at the side of the road.

Police said the lorry had been driving 'up close and personal' with a tree at the roadside before then appearing to become stuck. A tree surgeon was called out to remove the branch and separate the two safely.

Sharing pictures of the incident, the large DPD lorry can be seen at the side of Heywood Old Road, with numerous police officers at the scene who closed the road for a short while.

In a tweet, GMP Heywood wrote: "We don't just look for stolen cars, we also help those entangled with nature! Our PCSO's came across this lorry getting up close and personal with a tree so much so we had to ask the council for a tree surgeon to separate the two! #specialbranch"
