Special Dumfries town centre parade marks Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day was celebrated in Dumfries on Saturday morning.

A parade took place in the town centre with a special ceremony being held at the Midsteeple.

Current and former members of the region’s Armed Forces took part, including members of local branches of Legion Scotland. There were also members of Cadet Units, Dumfries Town Band and Dumfries Pipe Band.

Others attending included Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries Fiona Armstrong and local politicians.

Armed Forces Day aims to provide people with the chance to show their support for the men and women of the Armed Forces – past and present.

As part of the celebrations, Armed Forces flags flew all week in Dumfries, Annan, Langholm, Sanquar, Moffat, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Stranraer.
