Athlon Sports picked Michigan State football to finish near the bottom of the Big Ten.
Athlon Sports released their complete 134 team rankings for the upcoming season, and to no surprise Michigan State landed near the bottom of the Big Ten. The Spartans came in at No. 58 nationally, which put them No. 13 in the Big Ten.
Here’s a bit of what Steven Lassan had to say about Michigan State:
“Jonathan Smith is a strong hire for Michigan State and brings a style of play from Oregon State that should fit well into the Big Ten and overall potential of this program. However, the debut season from Smith could be challenging.”
Michigan State was ahead of the following Big Ten peers in the rankings: Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois and UCLA.
