Michigan State basketball made it a priority to contact the top 2025 in-state prospect on the first day of the direct contact period.
24 / 7 High School Hoops is reporting that Michigan State contacted four-star shooting guard Trey McKenney on Thursday — which was the first day of the direct contact period for the 2025 class. At midnight on June 15, college coaches are officially able to directly contact high school prospects in the 2025 class.
McKenney ranks as the No. 6 shooting guard and No. 22 overall prospect in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 1 player from the state of Michigan.
McKenney reportedly also heard from Arkansas, Providence, Texas, Arizona State, Miami (FL), Pitt, Indiana, Xavier, Missouri, LSU, Marquette, Georgetown, Michigan, Ohio State and Cal Poly. Michigan State has already extended an offer to McKenney as well.
