Spanish police have recently made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a series of high-profile robberies in Madrid. Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the burglaries of the homes of eight affluent individuals, including prominent football players Radamel Falcao and Rodrygo Goes.
The arrests, which took place on February 13, resulted in the detention of five men and one woman. During the operation, authorities seized a substantial amount of stolen goods, including 10 watches, jewelry, €3,300 ($3,600) in cash, and two air pistols.
According to police reports, the burglaries occurred between July 2022 and the time of the arrests, targeting upscale neighborhoods in and around Madrid. Among the victims were Colombian footballer Radamel Falcao, who currently plays for LaLiga club Rayo Vallecano, and Brazilian player Rodrygo Goes, a member of Real Madrid.
Authorities revealed that the suspects exhibited a high level of sophistication in their criminal activities. They meticulously studied videos and photos shared on social media by the players and their associates to gather information about the layout of the homes and the occupants' schedules. Additionally, the perpetrators conducted thorough reconnaissance of the security systems to devise strategies for gaining entry.
Three of the suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing into multiple charges, including robbery with force, robbery with violence or intimidation, forgery of documents, and money laundering.
