A number of supermarkets in the UK have run out of a kitchen staple as a result of a spate of cold weather in Spain, which could result in some Irish shelves going bare.
Currently in the UK, Morrisons and Waitrose are experiencing issues with bell pepper supply. In particular, Morrisons have had to limit the number of peppers available for sale - just two per customer, ITV reports.
The issue stems from some unusually cold weather in normally-sunny Spain, impacting the speed at which peppers would grow and causing a ripple effect on supply throughout export countries in Europe.

In February, a warning was issued to Irish shoppers that vegetables and fruit would shoot up in price throughout the coming weeks due to a combination of colder weather and the rising cost of living.
Justin Leonard from Leonard and Sons, Dublin’s oldest fresh produce company, explained at the time that various fruits and vegetables would be at risk of a supply shortage which would jack up prices.
This shortage could have finally hit Irish supermarkets also, with Tesco’s website showing zero stock for green peppers, yellow peppers and red peppers, they are also out of three-packs and sweet peppers. They do have pointed peppers in stock.
Tesco was contacted for comment by the Irish Mirror and at the time of writing has not responded.
However, on the Aldi website, peppers of various varieties are still available, though the country of origin on the packets indicates the peppers were grown in the Netherlands.
Furthermore, in a statement to the Irish Mirror, Aldi confirmed: "Aldi is not currently experiencing any bell pepper shortages in Ireland.
"We are continuously working with our suppliers to ensure that our customers can find everything that they need for the best prices at their local Aldi store."
Dunnes Stores also appears to still have peppers for sale, with the home delivery section of their site indicating that the usual varieties of bell peppers were available for purchase.
