Sandor Martin Clemente is a Spanish professional boxer who is expected to return to the ring to challenge his opponent, a Belgian boxer Mohammed El Marcouchi in Italy before the year ends. Since 2019, the Spanish boxer has held the European super-lightweight title. The upcoming event will be held in Turin, Italy where Italy’s Opi will organize and promote the event.
Martin (41-3-0, 14KOs) is expected to fight his opponent El Marcouchi (29-3-O,12KOs) for 8 rounds in the super lightweight division. Currently, Martin is the World Boxing Championship (WBC) number one in the 140lbs and the challenger for the winner of Devin Haney vs Regis Prograis. Martin, 30, started his professional boxing career in 2011.
In the last three years Sandor has had 4 fights, he defeated Mikey Garcia by Majority Decision (MD) in 2021. “Mikey Garcia is a legend, it really was a pleasure to be able to share the ring with him, It’s the biggest moment of my career. I always said I was going to do it, and I’ve done it. I know myself, I know my capabilities. I’ve been doing this since I was five years old. I said I was going to beat the best fighters in the world, and that’s what I’ve done,” said Martin through an interpreter in media reports.
In 2022, he defeated Jose Felix in April and lost the fight to Teofimo Lopez through a Split Decision in December. This year he fought a former Italian super Lightweight champion Arblin Kaba with a 6th round score before the stoppage. “I am happy to fight twice in 2023,” recalls Sandor “I will do my best to give an outstanding performance. With my managers, the Cherchi family of Opi Since 82, I look forward to the new year in order to find finally a world title chance. Estamos listos!” said Martin.
Mohammed emerged victorious by KO in his last fight against Giorgi Gviniashvili from Georgia in May 2023. He has a total of 32 fights with 29 wins, 3 losses and 0 draws. Martin looks forward to end the year with a bang in this last fight.
