A stunning beach shielded by cliffs and rarely visited by tourists is the best unspoilt spot in the whole of Spain.
For many who have made a trip to the land of late dinners and rioja, time on the beach likely means kicking back on a sunbed on the narrow sandy strips found in much of the Costa del Sol and Majorca.
Venture a little out from classic holiday hotspots and you'll find a country blessed with the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in the world.
The symbol is one of the world's most recognised awards, demonstrating that a beach meets stringent environmental, safety and accessibility criteria.
Researchers at AVIS have dug into the list and scoured three million Google searches to pinpoint the most secluded Blue Flag beaches in Spain.
They then ranked the top 10 beaches that are off the beaten path, perfect for travellers who want to escape the crowds and relax by the sea.
Topping the list is Os Frades beach, a pristine spot nestled in the hills of the Baiona coastline. Oj Frades is a relatively small beach but is known for its crystal-clear waters and picturesque views.
It is accessed by a winding path that offers breath-taking views of the coastline by Monterreal Fortress, a towering castle built in the 12th century. A hidden gem in the Galician coast, the beach’s fine golden sand and scattered rock formations make it the ideal spot for a relaxing day out.
Ezaro Beach is another unspoiled spot located on the west coast of Spain. It is surrounded by impressive cliffs and is accessible only by foot, which adds to its peaceful atmosphere.
In addition to its natural beauty and surfing opportunities, Ezaro Beach is steeped in cultural and historical significance. The beach is located near the famous Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route that dates back to the Middle Ages and still sees thousands of pilgrims walk across the north of the country each year.
You will find some of these weary travellers soaking their swollen feet in the clear waters off Ezaro.
Cala Forn Beach is a secluded destination located on the Costa Brava and came in third place in the loist. It is situated between the popular tourist destinations of Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guixols, and is accessible only by foot or boat.
The beach is small and picturesque, with clear turquoise waters and fine golden sand. It is surrounded by lush vegetation, which offers visitors a sense of privacy. The calm waters and sheltered cove make it a perfect spot for swimming and snorkelling.
The beaches have been ranked based on how regularly they are searched for online, given an indication of how well known and busy they are.
