Liverpool have enjoyed some of the best talent that Spain have had to offer down the years.
Whether it be Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia or Pepe Reina, some of the best players to have represented the Reds in recent years have been Spanish. However, it hasn’t been the case for all of them.
In the summer of 2013, Liverpool signed Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo in a deal worth £7million. After that, though, things did not go to plan.

A year later Aspas would be sent out on loan to Sevilla, before completing a permanent return to Celta Vigo in 2015. Ever since he returned to Spain, Aspas has shown the talent he's truly capable of.
In his 432 appearances for the La Liga club, Aspas has scored 189 goals. This makes him Celta Vigo’s top scorer in their entire history, ahead of second placed duo Vladimir Gudelj and Alesandr Mostovoy who have 70 goals each.
This season Aspas has started life well in front of goal. In his opening five La Liga appearances he has scored five goals. This run of form, according to WhoScored, makes him the top rated Spanish player across Europe’s big five leagues (Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and La Liga) with a 7.55 average rating.
Liverpool fans will more than likely remember Aspas for his one goal that came in 15 appearances as a Red. However, things have been very different for the player since he returned to his homeland seven years ago.
