Spain confirms rule change as Foreign Office updates travel guidance

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its guidance for Spain after the country announced a major change.

Summer is upon us and many holidaymakers will be planning a trip to Spain over the coming weeks. The Spanish government has now approved a measure to lift all remaining coronavirus regulations.

The government has confirmed people will no longer need to wear face masks in pharmacies and health and care centres. A statement from FCDO said: "The Spanish government has declared an end to the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and has lifted all compulsory requirements to wear face coverings."

The FCDO states confirmed there are no Covid-19 testing or vaccination requirements for passengers entering Spain. It added: Countries may restrict travel or bring in rules at short notice.

"Check with your travel company or airline for changes. If you test positive for Covid-19, you may need to stay where you are until you test negative.

"You may also need to seek treatment there. Make sure you:

  • can access money
  • understand what your insurance will cover"
