Spain captain Alvaro Morata provides injury update ahead of Euro 2024 final after clash with security guard

Alvaro Morata joked that the security guard who collided with him after Spain’s Euro 2024 semi-final win over France deserved a yellow card.

La Roja booked their spot in a first European Championship final since 2012 with a 2-1 victory over Les Bleus in Munich

Though France striker Randal Kolo Muani had opened the scoring with a header, a stunning goal from record-breaking teenager Lamine Yamal brought the Spanish back onto level terms.

Barcelona teenager Yamal became the youngster goalscorer in European Championship history at the age of 16 years and 362 days.

Dani Olmo then gave Luis de la Fuente’s side the lead with a strike that went in off Jules Kounde to bring an end to a pulsating first-half inside the Allianz Arena.

The full-time whistle after a tense second-half sparked jubilant scenes of celebrations, during which captain Morata was left limping following an accidental collision with a security guard.

Morata was celebrating in front of supporters when a member of the security personnel slipped and crashed into the striker’s right knee.

Former Chelsea forward Morata appeared to be in pain and looked upset when he limped away while the individual in question was apologising.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Marca, however, Morata played down the incident and suggested he would be fit to feature in Sunday’s final against either England or the Netherlands.

“It [the security guard's challenge] was a yellow card and that's it.”
