
SpaceX recently introduced a new version of the Starship spacecraft in preparation for Flight 7 scheduled for January. The upgraded Starship features a 25% larger fuel tank, new avionics, and enhanced flight computers. However, the previous flight encountered a setback when the vehicle exploded approximately 10 minutes into the mission, contrasting with the successful controlled splashdowns in the Indian Ocean during the preceding missions.
Following the incident, federal regulators mandated a post-flight investigation, prompting SpaceX to conduct thorough ground tests and analysis. The findings from these tests led to several modifications that the company is set to unveil.
Among the changes made to the Starship are adjustments to the fuel lines supplying the engines, modifications to propellant temperatures, and alterations to the operating thrust target, which determines the engine power during flight. Additionally, new vents and a purge system utilizing nitrogen have been incorporated to mitigate fuel leaks and reduce flammability in the aft section of the spacecraft.



Not only has the Starship been upgraded, but the Super Heavy booster has also undergone enhancements. These include a more powerful flight computer, improved power and network distribution, and the integration of smart batteries for enhanced performance.
