Spa of the week: Titanic Spa, Yorkshire

Nestled among the Yorkshire Pennines, you’ll find one of the UK’s best spas .

Operating since 2005, Titanic Spa is an award-winning eco spa which prides itself on placing equal emphasis on the wellbeing of its guests and the environment.

Set in a historic 20th Century textile mill, the destination spa offers chic accommodation in luxury apartments along with its extensive list of treatments.

In a nutshell:

Blending world-class spa facilities and treatments with an eco-friendly ethos makes this spa the go-to destination for any eco-warrior looking to pamper themselves.

Famous for:

When Titanic Spa opened its doors in 2005, it became the UK’s first eco spa - and this year it won the best luxury eco spa title at the Luxury Spa Awards.

Titanic Spa’s eco credentials start with the exterior. Its solar photovoltaic roof panels convert light directly into electricity and the ‘low U value’ windows eliminate draughts and thermal mass meaning they use less electricity all year round.

The spa also has its own natural water source, located directly under the old mill, which provides fresh drinking water, water for the plunge pool and water for the swimming pool, showers and ice experience. Food menus here are seasonal with local, organic and fair-trade food sourced where possible and the team also recycle as many materials as they can.

The end game for Titanic Spa is to be completely carbon neutral – meaning it will attempt to equate carbon removal with carbon output resulting in a zero carbon footprint.

The treatments:

With 20 bespoke treatment rooms and reasonable price points, there’s something at the Titanic Spa for everyone. To make the most of the spa, opt for the Titanic Freedom Spa Day (from £189pp) which includes two 55-minute treatments (or longer with added cost), full access to the spa facilities – including the Heat and Ice Experience - and a light lunch.

Treatment options include facials, deep tissue massages, body scrubs and wraps, a private mud chamber, pregnancy treatments, reiki, hopi ear candle and hand and foot treatments.

What to Instagram:

Bathing in the outdoor hot tub, glass of champagne in hand.

Details:

Titanic Spa is open from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week. Low Westwood Lane, Linthwaite, Huddersfield, HD7 5UN.

Treatments start from £75 for a facial and £79 for a massage. titanicspa.com/
