Southport Pontins as you've never seen it before in stunning footage

Amazing drone footage shows a Southport holiday park as it's never been seen before.

It shows the giant Pontins complex in Ainsdale, along with the recent transformation of the outside of the disused Toad Hall building with a seaside-themed mural.

The footage was the work of Southport resident Barry Wright, who uses the handle DroneLife on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.

He said: "I've lived in Southport most of my life and I have a keen interest in photography, history and older buildings of the town and its surrounding areas.

"I also do a bit of urban exploring which led on to me getting a drone so I could see more of the architecture and get pictures from different angles.

"I wanted to film Pontins and the former Toad hall site because it gets a lot of criticism in the town whilst most have never seen it, certainly from above.

"Its octagonal layout makes for some pretty interesting photos/video. From reading the comments on the FB group I posted it on, it's certainly stirred up plenty of opinions!"

Pontins has suffered a string of negative reviews from customers who have cut short their stay there, although others have said they enjoyed their time at the holiday park.

The Pontins chain was bought out of administration by hotel chain Britannia - who also own Liverpool's Adelphi - in 2011.
