Recent weather observations reveal that northeastern Georgia received between 12 to 14 inches of rain, with far northwestern South Carolina experiencing even higher totals ranging from 12 to 16 inches. The impact of the storm was felt across a wide area, with parts of the Atlanta region also reporting double-digit rainfall totals.

The combination of Wednesday's extreme rainfall event and the impending arrival of Hurricane Helene underscores the significant weather challenges facing the Southeast. Residents in these areas are urged to stay informed about the evolving weather conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
