Southampton vs Man City prediction and odds ahead of EFL Cup quarter-final tie

Manchester City go from one cup competition to another as Pep Guardiola's side prepare to stay on track to win their fifth EFL Cup under the Spaniard when they face a Southampton side looking for a welcomed distraction from their Premier League woes. Nathan Jones' side currently sit bottom of the table and three points from safety but have a tough task to stay in this cup.

City are the favourites ahead of the tie on the south coast at 2/9 with Betfred while the Saints are longshots at 11/1 and a draw is 11/2. Guardiola has won the trophy four times in succession from 2018 to 2021 but were knocked out in the fourth round last season to West Ham United on penalties.

The visitors have beaten heavyweights Chelsea and Liverpool on their way to the quarter-finals so far in this season's competition.

For Southampton, they will be looking to produce a shock and get themselves through to the semi-finals for this first time since [enter year]. They have seen off Cambridge United, Sheffield Wednesday and Lincoln City before setting up the home tie against Pep Guardiola's side.
