Chelsea will be hoping for a quick upturn in fortune this weekend, following two defeats in four days against Brentford in the Premier League and their damaging 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The Blues had gone into the international break six games unbeaten since their Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool on penalties. They will be looking to rediscover that form on the South Coast this weekend.
Thomas Tuchel's side needed penalties to overcome Southampton in the EFL Cup earlier this season, but they won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League and have lost just one of their last 14 with the Saints in all tournaments.

But that failure to respond to their shock defeat to the Bee's could give hope to Ralph Hasenhuttl's side, but the Saints are going through a baron run of their own following an excellent run over the festive period.
Southampton has taken one point from 12 available in the Premier League whilst also conceding nine goals in that time, and that seems to be where the issue lies recently for the Saints.
Hasenhuttl's side, however, has scored in each of their last 12 Premier League home games since last drawing a blank back in September, and if the past week is anything to go by, they will be looking to prey on Chelsea's vulnerability in defence.
