Southampton are locked in ‘ongoing’ talks with Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl about their vacant managerial position.
The Premier League basement club binned off Russell Martin on Sunday night after their crushing 5-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur just hours earlier.
After their latest loss, the South Coast strugglers are now nine points adrift of safety. Furthermore, they have the worst goal difference in the top-flight.
Plenty of names have been touted to replace Martin including Graham Potter, Carlos Corberan and Liam Manning.
However, Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl is one of the bookies favourites and can be backed at 6/4 – with ex-Denmark national coach Kasper Hjulmand another name that’s coming to the fore in the market.
The next Southampton manager odds contain all the latest candidates which also include former England bosses Gareth Southgate and Lee Carsley.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Southampton are in ongoing talks with Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl.
On Tuesday, Plettenberg posted on X (formerly Twitter) confirming that the Saints continue to pursue the highly-rated German gaffer.
The day previous, Plettenberg also said how Rohl was one of the leading candidates to fill the void at St Mary’s. With that in mind, what attracted the South Coast side to the 35-year-old?
Not only has Rohl worked wonders at Hillsborough, he has previous with the Premier League strugglers. He worked under former St Mary’s boss Ralph Hassenhuttl.
During his time with the Owls, Rohl successfully preserved the Yorkshire club’s EFL Championship status in 2023/24. Aged just 34 at the time of his appointment, Rohl was the youngest ever EFL manager.
This season, Rohl has really pushed on with the club currently ninth in the table. Wednesday are just five points off a play-off position.
On Saturday, Wednesday are back in action with a home league fixture against Stoke City. The best football betting sites in the UK price Rohl’s side as the 19/20 match favourites.
