It's often not how you start a season, but how you end it that counts and that could well be the case with the Premier League title race this campaign. Arsenal have been one of the standout teams of the competition, taking an early lead that they have managed to hold for the majority of the season.
However, recent weeks have seen that grip on the league slip as draws to both Liverpool and West Ham after being 2-0 up in both ties. It has put proceedings back into the hands of Manchester City, who can look to land yet another league title with Pep Guardiola at the helm.
It meant that a result against the Premier League's bottom side Southampton was needed to turn that form around once again and regain that confidence. The script didn't go that way though as just 27 seconds into the game, Aaron Ramsdale gave the ball away for Carlos Alcaraz to open the scoring.

That lead was later doubled as former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott run beyond the defence to curl the ball into the back of the net. Gabriel Martinelli pulled one back shortly after, giving hope for the home side, but they were unable to draw level before the break at half time.
The Saints made a change to their system and went for five at the back as substitute as Duje Caleta-Car had a free header from a corner to regain the two-goal lead. The away faithful went on to troll Arsenal fans in the away end by doing the "Poznan" celebration.
It's where all the supporters turn their back and jump, arms over each other that was donned by Polish side Lech Poznan, something that has since been adopted by Man City.
