The most recent Covid hotspots across the South West are revealed as the region's hospital admissions surge to the highest in the country. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said the South West has seen a 250 per cent increase in coronavirus admissions since the middle of September.
The government has a coronavirus heat map, which measures the number of new infections and the rate of cases across the country. According to the data, Devon has a case rate of 122 per 100,000, while Cornwall averages 102.7.
In Somerset, the figure is 93.5 and in the city of Bristol it is 79.9. Meanwhile, Gloucestershire has an average of 103 cases per 100,000 people.

The rolling rate is found by calculating the amount of cases in the last seven days divided by the amount of people living in the area. Then that figure is multiplied by 100,000.
Below is a breakdown of the figures in each county region, with the number of new cases in the week leading up to October 1, the percentage increase of cases from the seven days prior, and the latest case rate per 100,000 people. Specific data for council areas in Cornwall, Wiltshire and Dorset is not available.
