South Lanarkshire seniors' group holds first in-person meeting since pandemic

A South Lanarkshire seniors’ group has had its first in-person meeting in more than two years.

Covid-19 restrictions meant most of Seniors Together's activities had to switch online, but over 55 members socialised in Hamilton Town House and caught up over tea, coffee and cake.

Christine Calder, Seniors Together manager, said: “It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and have a catch-up with them.

“We know the pandemic has been hard for many of our members, and we did of course still engage with them online as much as we could.

“But there is nothing to beat having face-to-face conversations and it was very much a relaxed and informal get together.”

Catriona Mason, chairperson of the project, said: “We hope this will be the first of many get togethers and meetings this year – keep your eyes peeled for details of our events on our Facebook page and the council’s social media.”
