South Lanarkshire's anti-social behaviour policy renewed

A new anti-social behaviour policy has been launched in South Lanarkshire this week.

The policy, approved by councillors, will provide a clear definition of what anti-social behaviour is – as well as what is not deemed anti-social behaviour.

A greater focus will be placed on preventing anti-social behaviour by ensuring a person-centred approach when supporting victims.

Chairman of the council’s housing and technical resources committee, Councillor Josh Wilson (Hamilton South), said: “The new policy is fully compliant with updated or new legislative and regulatory requirements.

“In addition, it also considers the council’s overall approach to tackling anti-social behaviour and how it is managed across different services.”

The policy sets out a range of key aims and objectives that are in line with the council’s aims to protect vulnerable children, young people and adults and to tackle disadvantage and deprivation.

Executive director of housing and technical resources, Daniel Lowe, said: “The council is committed to tackling anti-social behaviour.

“The revised policy aligns with the wider anti-social behaviour strategy, and sets out the council’s approach which was formed following consultation with a wide range of services and partners, as well as feedback from those with lived experience of anti-social behaviour who have used council and partner services.”
