South Lanarkshire businesses and residents have the opportunity to take part in free events to learn more about climate change.
Online events are being run by the E3 project, which is a partnership between South Lanarkshire Council and Elevator UK under the Community Renewal Fund, and Keep Scotland Beautiful.
A range of climate emergency training and workshops will offer residents to boost their knowledge and skills.
The courses are free to access with the aim to supply communities and businesses with the knowledge and skills needed to become a successful part of a low-carbon Scotland.
Claire Herbst from Keep Scotland Beautiful told Lanarkshire Live : “Scotland has pledged to become a net-zero country by 2045, meaning that both individuals and businesses will need to adapt their daily habits and unite to achieve this goal.
"Having carbon literate businesses and individuals is vital to understanding the climate emergency and responding to the risks, opportunities, and responsibilities ahead.
“Our climate emergency training is for anyone who wants to know more about what the current climate science is or what the data around climate change is.
"More importantly, it’s about learning as an individual, business, or organisation in any sector what can they do to make a difference.”
People interested in taking part can sign up for both the introductory workshop and accredited training course – or choose to take part in just one of the programmes.
Eligibility for a certificate of carbon literacy from Keep Scotland Beautiful is dependent on completing both courses.
The introduction to climate emergency course will take place on May 11 at 10 to 11 am, this is open to anyone who wants to gain a further understanding of the science of climate change and reflect on how they and/or their business will be impact, as well as identifying practical steps people can take to reduce their own carbon footprint.
The accredited climate emergency training will take place on May 12 and 19 from 10am to 12.30pm, this will inform attendees about the local, national and international action needed to tackle the climate crisis and identify the impacts, risks and opportunities for Scotland.
