South Lanarkshire Council urges residents to register to vote in local elections

People in South Lanarkshire have until April 18 to register to vote in council elections.

Those over the age of 16 will be able to vote in local elections, but people must have registered by April 18 to do so,

Returning officer Cleland Sneddon told Lanarkshire Live : “Ahead of the elections, the message is simple – your vote counts.

“I would urge everyone who is eligible to check that they are registered to vote.

“If you are already registered, you should have now received your polling card through the post.

“If you are not yet registered, please do so before the deadline. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Electoral Registration Office.”

To check if you are already registered, contact the Electoral Registration website on 0800 030 4333.

Voting for the elections will take place on Thursday, May 5.
