Council tax across South Lanarkshire will rise by 2.5 per cent as the new budget has been confirmed.
The budget, which was drafted by the cross-party working group, sees an increase of 2.5 per cent as opposed to the original suggested 3.5 per cent.
The level of council tax is property based, with homes being classified into eight bands from A to H – with band H properties paying more than three times the level as Band A.
For Band A properties which are valued at £27,000 and under, with the 2.5 per cent increase, occupants will pay £826.11 per year.
Homes which fall under the Band B category, valued between £27,001 to £35,000 will pay £961.74 in council tax per year.
Band C homes, which cost between £35,001 to £45,000 will now have to pay £1097.37.
For Band D homes, costing between £45,001 to £58,000 council tax will rise to £1233 per year.
Homes valued between £58,001 to £80,000 which fall under Band E, will see a rise in council tax to £1615.23 per year.
Band F homes will rise to £1997.46, and this category of homes have a property value of £80,001 to £106,000.
Band G properties, valued between £106,001 to £212,000 will see a council tax increase to £2416.68 per year.
And homes worth over £212,000 fall under Band H and will pay £3020.85 per year in council tax.
Council tax is paid from April to January, meaning each sum will be split up into 10 monthly instalments for each band,. The new increase will be paid as of April this year.
