Over £3000 in funding has been granted to nine Hamilton community groups.
At today’s (August 31) Hamilton Area Committee meeting, councillors approved £3218 in grants.
Larkhall Heritage Group were granted £300 for equipment; St Andrew’s Church Blantyre received £300 for an outing; Larkhall Burns Club were funded £508 for equipment; MorphFit Gentle Movement Project Ltd, Hamilton picked up £600 for equipment, administration and publicity costs; Hamilton Bowling Club (Ladies Section) got £350 for an outing and entrance fees; Hamilton Bowling Club were given £300 for an outing; Hamilton Bowling Club Winter Section were funded £260 for an outing; Hamilton South Guilds Together received £300 for an outing; and Eddlewood Bowling Club Ladies section were granted £300 for an outing.
The council grants funding to support local community groups and voluntary organisations.
The main aims of the community grants scheme are to fund activities and projects which bring community benefit and to involve people in the community by bringing them together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure and other community activities or to improve the local environment.
Support can be provided for a range of activities including administration and publicity costs, purchase of equipment and materials, annual outings and entrance fees, start-up costs and special events.
The total allocation for community grants for the Hamilton area for the year 2022 to 2023 was £25,750, and the remaining balance is £19123.
