South Lanarkshire Council celebrates World Gaelic Week

South Lanarkshire Council is spreading awareness for the first ever World Gaelic Week, which launches today (March 21).

The local authority took to social media to make residents aware of the events that will be taking place until March 27.

It tweeted: "Seachdain na Gàidhlig, or World Gaelic Week, is a 7-day programme of events taking place from Monday 21 March to Sunday 27 March 2022. This exciting celebration features an official programme of events, delivered in partnership with a wide range of sectors from across Scotland."

World Gaelic Week aims to promote Gaelic to everyone worldwide, with official events and community initiatives.

It enables Gaelic speakers and non-speakers to participate in a variety of ways that suit them, both in Scotland and in other countries around the globe.

South Lanarkshire residents can get involved with events and set something up in the community and plan projects as part of the week, events can be submitted here.
