The spokesperson emphasized the importance of democracy in the U.S.-ROK alliance and mentioned that they would continue to monitor the situation.
President Joe Biden has not yet made a substantive comment on the situation, which surprised US officials. He briefly mentioned to reporters that he was about to be briefed on the matter after delivering a speech at the National Museum of Slavery in Angola.
