South Carolina’s top-rated commit flips to Georgia

After a good deal of buzz surrounding a potential flip, the Georgia Bulldogs added another major commitment to their 2025 class. Shamari Earls, a four-star cornerback out of Chester, Virginia, flipped to the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon from conference rival South Carolina.

Earls is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback who plays at Thomas Dale High School and had been committed to the Gamecocks since April. He is the eighth-ranked cornerback in the country and the second-ranked player in Virginia.

Earls has starred in both football and track and field. He has played as a two-way player, recording 25 tackles and three interceptions a season ago on the defensive side to go along with 715 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver while also working as a return specialist.

With the addition of Earls, the Bulldogs have 18 players committed in the class of 2025 and have the third-ranked class in the country, trailing only Ohio State and Alabama. South Carolina fell to 38th after losing its highest-rated commit.
