South Carolina’s No. 1-ranked defensive lineman includes Georgia in top five

The Georgia Bulldogs made the top five for South Carolina’s top-ranked defensive lineman, Marcus Downs.

Downs is a three-star lineman in the class of 2024 from Riverside High School in Greer, South Carolina.

Georgia is joined by Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia Tech and North Carolina in his top five, which he released to Twitter on Tuesday.

According to 247Sports composite, Downs ranks as the nation’s No. 553 overall player, the No. 54 defensive lineman in America and the No. 8 player in the state of South Carolina.

The 6-foot-5, 260 pound lineman was offered by UGA on Jan. 30.

Downs recorded 36 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one sack and three pass breakups during his junior season en route to earning all-region honors.
