South Australia Police find four cannons among other weapons at Kapunda home

Two men will face court after police found a large amount of weapons at a home in the Barossa Valley, including semi-automatic rifles and four cannons.

South Australia Police, including investigators from the ballistics section, searched a home at Kapunda on Wednesday and Thursday last week.

Police said they found two unregistered semi-automatic rifles, two unregistered handguns, a stolen handgun, six homemade firearms, a silencer and four cannons.

They said they also seized a significant amount of insecure ammunition and other prohibited weapons such as knuckle dusters, a dagger and an expandable baton.

A 59-year-old man and a 61-year-old man, both from Kapunda, were reported for a number of firearms and weapons offences and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Police forensically examining the weapons and conducting further investigations into the matter.

They have urged anyone with information about the unlawful possession or supply of illegal firearms to contact Crime Stoppers.
