The South Africa vs Netherlands match took a while to start as it faced a rain threat in Dharamsala, but once the proceedings got underway in a reduced 43-overs-a-side match, the Dutch gave it their all and eventually upset South Africa, who until Tuesday were one of the high-fliers of the ongoing ICC World Cup.
First it was skipper Scott Edwards (78 not out), who helped his team come back from 140/7 in the 34th over to post 245/8 on the board with contributions from the lower order that proved to be the turning point in the end.
Logan van Beek then led the Netherlands' bowling attack with a spell of 3/60 to pack up South Africa for 207 and take his team to a famous 38-run win.
The win was like rubbing more salt into the South African wounds of 2022, when the Dutch had beaten the Proteas and ousted them from the T20 World Cup.
