Crowds at the National Television Awards were heard booing as This Morning won the accolade for Daytime TV amid the backlash from queue-gate. The nominees for the award on Thursday night were This Morning, Loose Women, The Repair Shop and The Chase. As This Morning was announced the winner, Phillip Schofield was seen to break down in tears before heading to the stage to collect the award.
On stage, after accepting the award, Phillip addressed the crowd, saying: "Please don't ever feel like we get complacent." "Thank you so much for everything," Holly added as she addressed the public at home. "You make our show for us, you really do."

The TV duo then pushed Alison Hammond forward to say a few words. "We're all so grateful for this award," Alison said. "I should have won one of these as well - you know what? Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and the legends that are Ant and Dec are great, but I should have got one!"
A statement from This Morning's on Twitter read: "Thank you to everyone who voted for us this year. The National Television Award means so much to us all, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your continued support".
But viewers didn't seem so happy for the news as boos could be heard among those cheering on the TV show and its stars during the ceremony - before the sound appeared to cut away from the audience. TV critic and broadcaster Scott Bryan said: "A source at the ceremony says that there were some boos in the room when This Morning won an #NTAs, but boos stopped during the speech."
Meanwhile people on Twitter were quick to point out the mixed reaction. One person said: "Not really sure why they’re blocking out all the boo’s for Holly & Phil on the #NTAs". While another added: "#ThisMorning got a LOT of boos. Don't let itv fool you! #NTAs
A third joked: "I think the sound man deserves an award for blocking out the boos #NTAs"
Amongst the crowd, ITV's Loose Women stars, including Kaye Adams, also looked stone faced as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield collected the NTA gong tonight. Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
Mared said: "Lmaooooo the Loose Women couldn’t hide how f***ed off they were at Holly and Phil winning that one". Matt said: "Loose Women absolutely HATING Holly and Phil is giving me life #ntas".
However, some viewers were quick to defend the presenters. Holly wrote: "Holly has always come across as a lovely person and emotional. so seeing all the negativity is horrible she doesn’t deserve it bet she isn’t coping with it at all". Lynne said: "I should bl**dy well think so, too (NTA award, that is!) You have been brilliant...I doubt this country could have got through Covid without you! Brilliant TV-I don't know whose got it in for P&H,but up yours, mate".
