What a thrilling finale to tonight’s action here at the Stade de France! Soufiane El Bakkali charged in the final stretch to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase, overtaking Kenneth Rooks in the last stages after the American had led much of the final lap.
However, the excitement was tempered by a concerning incident on the western side of the track involving Lamecha Girma of Ethiopia. Girma, who had been among the leaders for the majority of the race, failed to clear a barrier about 200 meters from the finish line, resulting in a hard fall onto the track.

Following the fall, Girma remained on the track for several minutes before medical staff attended to him. He was then carefully placed on a backboard and carried off the track for further medical attention.
Meanwhile, El Bakkali celebrated his victory by ringing the winners’ bell and embarking on a victory lap, sharing his joy with the Moroccan supporters present at the event.
