'Sorry for the inconvenience': M&S reopens after van crashes into wall

A GALASHIELS store has reopened after it was forced to close when a van crashed into the wall.

The incident is understood to have happened at lunchtime on Friday at the M&S in the Gala Water Retail Park.

Earlier today a store spokesperson said: “Due to an incident out of our control, we are temporarily closing the store until further notice.

“Sorry for the inconvenience caused at this time, we will update when we can open the store again.”

But in a more recent update, the spokesperson added: "Thank you for your cooperation, store has been accessed by engineers and safe to open to the public again!."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a van having struck a building at Gala Water Retail Park in Galashiels around 12.25pm on Friday (May 5).

“There were no reported injuries.”
