Sophie shares disappointment over Prince Louis' outfit on royal balcony, claims lip reader

The Royal Family took to the Balcony of Buckingham Palace after the historic Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, May 6. And while the busy crowd saw many members of the family, young Prince Louis was once again a fan-favourite.

But now a lip reader has claimed that Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, voiced her disappointment about the youngster. Specifically, she reportedly called it a "pity" that his outfit didn't feature shorts.

As reported by the Mirror, Louis' outfit was made by Dege and Skinner, consisting of a Hainsworth Garter Blue Doeskin Tunic. It featured specially designed lacework embellishment to the collar, cuffs and fronts.

Lip reader Elisabeth Taunton claimed that as Kate ushered Louis and Princess Charlotte along the balcony, Sophie said: "It's a pity Louis didn't wear his shorts." This then appeared to have prompted Prince William to apparently respond: "Oh, he didn’t want to wear his shorts". A smiling and nodding Kate added: "Yeah."

Louis was a centre of attention through the events for many, as he could be seen letting out a big yawn, while also taking the opportunity to point out something of interest to his sister Charlotte during the Coronation Ceremony. He yawned again shortly after the King was crowned, just after midday.

While many certainly noticed the young Prince's presence when he was attending the ceremony, some may have also noticed that he briefly disappeared. It has been revealed that it was planned for the five-year-old prince to 'retire' during the service due to his young age.

In another moment that left spectators in stitches, The five-year-old appeared to accidentally sing 'God Save The Queen' at the end of the service. The lyrics were changed to 'God Save The King' in September, after Queen Elizabeth had passed away at Balmoral Castle
